MOTOR COMPANY APPROVES USE OF QuietBlend® ™ material to find first application in Ford 2004 F-Series trucks. DEARBORN,
Mich. – July 21, 2003 – First there is an idea, then development,
testing, validation and then the customer puts it through stringent testing
and finally, a product becomes reality. CTA Acoustics QuietBlend®
™ material for thermal and acoustical applications is finding a
bit of reality with Ford Motor Company as the company has approved its
use. “We’re excited about getting this breakthrough product on the market,” said James J. Pike, CEO for CTA Acoustics. “QuietBlend® exceeds the performance of current products used for the challenging role of thermal and acoustical absorption in automotive applications. Its unique, patented blend of man-made and natural fibers makes it soft to the touch and a much friendlier alternative for handling than many of today’s products.” Quiet Blend™ is a next-generation material that takes the best characteristics of previous products, and improves upon them with better sound absorption, lower weight, and competitive cost. Many of today’s automotive and commercial insulation products are made of fiberglass mat because it provides high performance at a relatively low cost. Other products in the market differ greatly, with many being less absorptive, heavier, or much more expensive than QuietBlend® . “We specifically developed QuietBlend® for the challenging under-hood environment,” said Cliff Hodge, Director, Program Management and Material Engineering for CTA Acoustics. “Quiet Blend passed the Ford performance specification after we put it through rigorous internal and independent outside testing which includes flammability, moisture resistance, heat resistance and acoustical absorption and several others.“ QuietBlend® ™ Accepted at Ford Motor Company – Page 2 July 21, 2003 The QuietBlend® material will be produced at CTA Acoustics’ manufacturing headquarters, now under construction, in Corbin, Ky. The three facilities include two manufacturing plants for blending, matt and molding operations as well as a centrally located facility for administration, maintenance and warehouse activities. CTA focuses on the research, design, engineering, manufacturing and integration of thermal and acoustical products for a variety of applications. These unique insulation products effectively manage noise and heat energy to make passenger cars, trucks, appliances, ventilation systems and other products quieter, more energy efficient, more comfortable and safer under demanding conditions. Based in Madison Heights, Mich., CTA Acoustics is a privately held, full-service supplier of acoustical and thermal insulation products for the automotive industry and is the only company in its industry segment developing and producing its own materials for engine compartment, interior and industrial applications. # # #
